Nothing says xmas like a Santa Claus swinging from a pole in the driveway.

I'm assuming that's the north pole.
I cannot lie to you. It's south.

My school friend on facebook shared a meme that said something like "It's merry Christmas, not happy holidays, share if you agree". And a small moan about political correctness. And I answered "it's a rebranded pagan festival anyway, you can call it anything you want".

After a little back and forth he asked me not to call it a rebranded pagan festival as he found that personally offensive.

I said "No worries" while resisting a strong urge to point out the blatant irony in that request.

Stupidity is multifaceted. The etymology of "holiday" is holy day, because in the good old days of theocratic tyranny, they were the only days you were allowed to come out of the manure factories, gas mines and poison distilleries. So surely "happy holidays" is just as good as "merry christmas".

But if you also worship at the alter of consumerism, 'holiday' implies no shopping, so that's obviously bad, whereas 'christmas,' means spending many many hours shopping, for presents and food, or whatever...just shop you bastards! oh and jesus and stuff...

I hope to get a visit from Mr Hanky this Xmas.
He puts the poo into plum pooding (Xmas crackers anyone?).

Me, never much a fan of Xmas, however I quite like Saturnalia (human sacrifice excepted) - though I feel a little shortchanged in the orgy department.
    Still - Io Saturnalia!
