I wonder how that could play out here once Scummo puts religious privilege into law.

Top Israeli immunologist accused of promoting antivaccine views

"Yehuda Shoenfeld is a well-known immunologist with a long career. Formerly at Tel Aviv University in Israel, he now runs a center for autoimmune diseases at Sheba Medical Center, Israel’s largest hospital. He is editor-in-chief of both journals of the Israel Medical Association (IMA), serves on the editorial board of dozens of other journals, and was elected a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities in June.
Yet a group of Israeli doctors says his ideas are a danger to public health.
Shoenfeld has long espoused theories popular among antivaccine advocates and spoken at their meetings, causing tensions with the Israeli medical community. The issue came to a boil in September, when Shoenfeld decided to publish a positive review of an anonymous antivaccine book in Harefuah, IMA’s Hebrew-language journal. The two reviewers, who did not have a medical background, wrote that the book “raises a strong suspicion that key aspects of vaccine safety have not been properly tested.”

The result of the anti vax misinformation has come home to roost in Samoa

Samoa's Prime Minister has announced a government shutdown in response to the measles epidemic that has claimed the lives of 53 people in the Pacific island nation.

Please don't tell me that religiosity may be involved in this.

Two babies died after receiving the vaccine and the populace got spooked. They were primed due to the anti-vaxxer meme. On enquiry it turned out the babies really died from the misadministration of medicines, misadventure.

The latest stats from the Samoan government. 63 deaths, 55 of them under 5 years old. We never wanted to have this horrible evidence to show to the murderous anti-vax brigade. But here it is.

Anti-vaxx disinformation is more efficient mass-murder than an automatic rifle in a high school. We banned guns in Oz, why can't we ban disinformation?

One would hope that the Samoan measles epidemic and subsequent mass immunization program which raised the populations immunisation level from the 30% level up to nearly 90% will provide irrefutable proof that vaccinations have no correlation with autism, but sadly no amount of evidence will change the opinion of those who promote the fallacy.

As of December 13, there were 5,080 confirmed cases of measles and 72 deaths, out of a Samoan population of 201,316.

Burden of proof is the obligation on somebody presenting a claim to provide evidence to support its truth (a warrant). Once evidence has been presented, it is up to any opposing "side" to show the evidence presented is not adequate. If claims were accepted without warrants, then every claim could simultaneously be claimed to be true.

    Updating:

Samoa's Ministry of Health has confirmed another death in the measles epidemic sweeping the country.

The Ministry said the death of a child under five years old recorded in the last 24 hours takes the death toll to 81.

It said there are currently 43 measles cases in hospitals, 10 are of them are critical; seven are children.

There were nine measles cases recorded in the last 24 hours for Upolu.

There were no new cases for Savai'i.

As of Christmas Day, about 95 percent of all eligible people in Samoa have been vaccinated against measles.

The Health Ministry confirms a total of 5612 measles cases have been reported to the Disease Surveillance Team, since the outbreak started.

The total number of measles cases admitted to all hospitals recorded for the outbreak to date is 1823. Of that, 1699 (93 percent) patients have been discharged.
